I made this cake for our good friend Katie. Sprinkles are not just for kids! Everyone loves sprinkles...don't they?
Having said that, I couldn't just roll the cake in sprinkles and leave it at that. I made a marshmallow fondant flower decoration to go on top and used cookie cutters to cut out the letters.
Once I had baked the cake, I covered it in chocolate ganache so the sprinkles had something to stick to. I then poured lots of sprinkles in a rectangular lasagne baking dish and rolled the cake in sprinkles. To ensure an even coat I then "sprinkled" extra over the cake until completely covered.
